SOUNDS MADE UP: Real Stories & Improvised Musical Comedy

Who says you can’t have fun on a Thursday?

Sounds Made Up is ready to get your weekend started sooner with some outrageous musical comedy. The stories are 100% real and our songs are 100% made-up on the spot. And we’ll have you singing along by the end of the night.

Sounds Made Up carries on the tradition of musical improv by performing a musical assscat, bringing a little bit of New York and Chicago to Norfolk. Each month Sounds Made Up has a new special guest tell hilarious and inspiring stories from their life. Our cast is inspired by those stories and then retells (and maybe exaggerates) what they heard through scenes full of comedy and harmony.

This month’s special guest monologist is legendary local jazz drummer and radio personality, Jae Sinnett! After service in the Navy and graduating from Norfolk State with a music degree, Jae has enriched his community as a teacher and clinician, performer and band leader, arranger and composer, and WHRV radio host and producer! Jae will also be the first professional musician we’ve invited to feature in this musical improv show!

Sounds Made Up is a show featuring two halves full of unwritten, unplanned musical numbers and one brief (10-ish minute) intermission. So there’s plenty of time to use the restroom and grab a beverage without missing a beat. So if you’re looking for a dose of music and to hear some incredible, real stories, Sounds Made Up is a show not to be missed.

Did you miss SOunds Made Up this month? Don’t worry, this show occurs as part of our regular monthly programming on the last Thursday of every month. So, if you missed us this time around, we’ll be back next month with a brand new special guest and hilarious musical improv. Also, if you have any special events that need any musical comedy,  reach out to The Push Comedy Theater and we can talk about how we can bring the laughs to your private events.
